Literature: Carey, Frances and Griffiths, Antony, Avant-Garde British Printmaking 1914-60,
British Museum Publications Ltd, London, pp. 105-107.
Signed by the artist in pencil. A proof aside from the edition of 45 published by Alexander Postan in association with Observer Art in 1971. A very good impression printed on a thick, fibrous Japan-type paper.
Although it was intended that an edition of 15 be issued in 1929 only a small number of proofs were ever printed or sold. Burra made very few prints; eleven woodcuts and three etchings are so far documented.
