Literature: Carey, Frances and Griffiths, Antony, Avant-Garde British Printmaking 1914-60,
British Museum Publications Ltd, London, pp. 105-107 (illustrated).
Signed by the artist in pencil. One of nine artist’s proofs aside from the edition of 45 published by Alexander Postan in association with Observer Art in 1971. A very good impression printed on a thick, fibrous Japan-type paper.
Burra made very few prints; eleven woodcuts and three etchings are so far documented. Two at a Bar is known in two states; according to Antony Griffiths only eight contemporary impressions are recorded in the final state.
