Extremely rare trial proofs printed for the artist by Alistair Grant and/or Michael Rand prior to the plate’s inclusion in the series The Reclining Figure;of which Cramer was aware of only three impressions and [2] the etching with aquatint added from the first of two aquatint plates. Cramer describes only two such impressions but we are aware of a third. To strengthen the contours and to add three colours to the final published design a second aquatint plate was also employed. Both are printed on heavy wove sheets with full margins and are in excellent condition.

The Reclining Figure, a portfolio of nine etchings was published by Ganymed Original Editions in 1978 in association with the Louisiana Museum, Denmark in an edition of 65.

Provenance: From the archive of the printer, Michael Rand
