Biography for Robin Tanner (1904 - 1988)
Robin tanner was born in Bristol in 1904
He studied at Goldsmiths College School of Arts under A.C.S. Anderson and was influenced by Samuel Palmer and started making etching in 1926 becoming part of the etching revival.
In 1929, the year of the Wall Street Crash, the print market went into decline so Tanner began to teaching to make a living. When he retired in in 1964 he went back to print making and in partnership with his wife Heather Spackman, book illustration. They built a house at Kinston Langley near Chippenham where they lived for the rest of their lives. He died in 1988.
