Biography for Peter Coker RA RCA (1926 - 2004)

Peter Coker studied at   the Royal College of Art in London where he was awarded both Royal and British Institution Scholarships (1951-1953) subsequently teaching at St. Martins followed by teaching at  City and Guilds of London Art School

In London Coker became acquainted with Derek Greaves, John Bratby, Edward Middleditch and Jack Smith, becoming known as one of the Kitchen Sink artists for a brief period . 

Coker exhibited widely in London and in particular with the Zwemmer Gallery run by Michael Chase.  

In 1972 Coker became a Royal Academician and has many works  in public collections including the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, the British Museum, the Tate Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. 

Later i Peter Coker, who moved to Manningtree in Essex and became an active member of Colchester Art Society
